Jetskis

Jetski's are probably the the most fuel efficient form of motorized watersports for 1-3 people on the lake. Today's engines can pull waterskiiers! Sports enthusiasts use Jetskis to move about the lake at very high rates of speed. Sometimes, they will trail your boat and jump off the wake waves! Because they are lightweight and moderately inexpensive, Jetskis are super popular. Their main disadvantage is that unlike a boat, there is no where to store your belongings while afloat. The driver is subject to boating rules and regulations, including being 16 years of age.

Tubing

Tubing is an incredible ride on Claytor Lake! This is one of the most fun things to do that involves being pulled behind a motorboat. Kids and Adults of all ages can go tubing because it doesn't require a sense of balance like waterskis and there is no age limit like jetskiing. As long as you can hold on, you're going for a ride!

Waterskiing

Waterskiing and Wakeboarding are also a great deal of fun at Claytor Lake, but certainly require a sense of balance, and a bit of skill also. The learning curve is similar to balance related activities, except the water isn't completely still under your feet! Waterskiing at Claytor Lake is mostly done in the wide areas near the state park. There are no in-water ramps to facilitate tricks, but plenty of master waterskiiers can use the wake to flip themselves!

Swimming and Diving at Claytor Lake

Swimming

Swimming is done all over Claytor Lake, but the most enjoyable swimming areas are coves, inlets, the shoal area past Lowman's Ferry Bridge, and at Claytor Lake Beach, at the State Park. There are also diving boards at Claytor Lake Beach as well as lifeguards on duty during most summer hours. For serious sport diving, numerous clubs in the area can be found using Google or the local yellow pages. Because depths can reach up to 95 feet near the Dam, underwater scuba diving is very popular. Of course, you wouldn't want to dive too close to the dam itself because of the current created when water is released downstream!
